Building a Custom Camper Van - Client Story

ALV: So now that you've seen the completed van, first thoughts, what are you thinking?

Neil: It took my breath away. You know what I mean? Like, it's just unreal. I can't believe it. The Murphy bed that we talked about. It's just great. You know?

You know, Blake, he's an artist, and he would say he's a craftsman, but he's an artist. He can just kind of envision it in his head, and it just kind of comes out of his hands. Just, I mean, bro, this is great. Unreal, every little detail. And, you know, I know you guys have been making these for a while now, and you guys are really, they're pretty darn good.

ALV: Thank you. So Neil, how did you decide to buy a van?

Neil: How did I decide to buy a van? Well, I've been wanting a van for a long time. And, you know, I used to sleep in the back of my pickup. You know, I had a piece of plywood back there with marine carpet on it. And that was like my little base camp for years. And, it was great, but it was kind of cozy. And now, I mean... Like all this room… quite the upgrade.

You know what I mean? It was a process. I must have looked at probably... 150, 200 vans. When I met you guys up at that bike race a couple of years ago and saw what you guys do, it was an easy decision. The quality and the attention to detail is just unreal.

Blake and I were talking about how some, like, another van company, I won't mention the name, but they do, like, an industrial, kind of metal, kind of cold. And, I mean, this is nicer than my first apartment. It's nicer than my first house. I mean, look at this. It's just, it's unreal. Very, very happy. 

ALV: Tell us about the process of working with us. What was that like once you dropped off the van and got started? What was it like for you?

Neil: It was very smooth from the very beginning. It was a lot of communication up front to find out exactly what my needs were. And it was great. I mean, Blake and I talked on the phone half a dozen times and we went over so many details.

How does this work? What does this look like? How do you want to do this? You know, what are you going to use it for? And so that was great, you know, just the communication and then every little detail. I mean, this van kind of fits me perfectly for what I'm going to use it for. So I love it.  

ALV: So what advice would you give to someone who's thinking about working with us?

Neil: Well, you guys made this so easy for me. Just really think it through, what your needs are, and then look for little places to expand, like for the battery, you know what I mean, like maybe upgrade a little later. And just enjoy the process. You know, because the communication's there. And he's going to help you vision it. Like if you’re a little gray on, what you really want.
